HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?
We'll give you tools to promote your group locally and tips to reach moms in your city. Word of Mom spreads fast. It's ok to start small and grow from there. Many groups grow from 5 to 50 moms in their first year.
The MomCo hosts meetings in 109 countries and 30 different languages worldwide.
Great question! There are 2.2 billion moms worldwide, with 85 million just in the U.S. There are so many moms who need to hear about Jesus! Multiple groups in a city help grow all the groups, because moms spread the word, and when there is a waiting list at one group, moms will look for a different group to attend. Another opportunity is to host your meeting at a different time. If another group hosts their meeting in the morning, host yours in the evening to reach moms needing an alternative day or time.
Some groups meet on weekday mornings (with childcare), but evenings and weekends work great too—especially for working moms. Choose what works best for you and the moms you’re inviting.
Most groups meet twice a month. Many pause during the summer. It's flexible. Whatever time you choose, moms will come.
It's not required, but oftentimes, offering childcare = increased attendance.
If you are hosting this group at a church:
Groups that are hosted in a church are encouraged to work with the church’s finance team to agree on a system, whether the MomCo group can be a line item on the church’s budget, or the group holds its own finances as a Leadership Team. It can be easier to access bank accounts when it is done through the church. The group can fund itself by turning in any fundraising proceeds and member dues to the church, and handling its expenses with check requests. Often, the church has worked with other ministry groups and already has an established process for this, or advice how it has worked well in the past. Whatever your group decides, you’ll find support in your Cohort with answers to your questions and examples from well established MomCo Leaders!
If you are hosting this group at your house or in the community:
It will be important to plan your group’s budget based on the annual renewal fee plus expenses you expect to incur, such as for speaker fees, group supplies for hospitality or decorations, and activities such as crafts or games. You might also consider a small gift for your leaders at the end of the year. Your Cohort is your best resource as you think through all of the expenses you need to plan for!
$219/year—that fee helps us create amazing content, support leaders, and keep this movement going strong.

MomCo is daring women to dream again in a culture of cynicism. Filled with bright, passionate leaders who are compelled by the way of Jesus, we're committed to sharing the Gospel in winsome, honest ways. While the work we do is dead serious, we aren't. We model our programming after Jesus, who was playful in spirit, ate with sinners and yet took sin seriously, and washed the feet of the person who was about to betray Him. We want to bless our neighbors, train leaders to share their faith, and be part of God's spiritual renewal and transformation in the world. We combine community, curriculum, coaching, and Scripture to activate moms in their purpose. This is where motherhood meets kingdom calling.
Nope. MomCo weaves spiritual truth, leadership development, practical tools, and a lot of fun. Think: Jesus + masterclasses + life-changing friendship.
MomCo meets moms where they are—offering a grace-filled space that leads to profound transformation. Through biblically-based curriculum, intergenerational mentorship, and community, moms grow in their faith and become catalysts for outreach in their homes, schools and neighborhoods. Many women who come to MomCo have no biblical literacy, so we start at the beginning. Many groups offer additional off-week opportunities, including 'Bible Basics', a 6-week gathering to discuss:
- What is the Bible?
- What does it say about God?
- How do I find my way around the Bible?
- Looking at the backstory: Are the Bible documents reliable?
- Who was Jesus?
- What did Jesus teach?
- What's the deal with the Holy Spirit?
- How does the Bible affect my life?
At least one—but we recommend 2–4 for shared leadership and backup. It's always more fun with a team.
The average leader invests 2–4 hours weekly during the active season. But with MomCo's plug-and-play resources, leaders don't have to build anything from scratch.
Yes. Most of our leaders started just like you! We'll provide the tools, training and backup to help you lead with confidence.
Absolutely. Some of our best leaders are empty nesters or grandmothers. What matters most is a heart for moms and a willingness to create space for others to connect, grow, and meet Jesus.
Everything from training and coaching to curriculum, tech tools, a private leader portal, and marketing materials. You're never doing this alone.
Think of it as a blend of small group, coffee date, party, prayer meeting, and masterclass—all in one.
Intentional Welcoming
Meetings begin with an intentional atmosphere where music plays; every mom is greeted with an over-the-top welcome, hug, eye contact, and by name if possible.
There is an art to gathering people intentionally, and we train leaders on how to help people feel seen and known and that their presence matters.
Some leaders welcome moms with a soul train line, some dress up in costumes and create a scene, and others welcome moms in the parking lot and help them get their kids out of the car.
Food
Often, food is served; at a minimum, drinks or coffee. We take sharing a drink or meal seriously because the story of God is woven around meals. Hospitality is theology lived out in real life.
In Genesis, God sets a table for Adam and Eve, saying eat, partake, you can eat everything except from one tree. It’s all yours to enjoy.
Then sin enters the world through a meal.
Later, God’s people are in captivity, and God tells them the way they are going to be rescued starts with a meal they are to prepare, where they slaughter a lamb and put its blood on the doorpost. It’s a foreshadowing of Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb.
Then, Jesus has a last meal with His friends, during which He takes the bread and wine and tells them to eat it in remembrance of Him.
After that, we read in Acts that the followers of Jesus “broke bread in their homes and ate together, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
The story culminates in a feast called the supper of the Lamb, which we read about in Revelation.
Fun
Some people think that meetings about Jesus should be buttoned up and serious. There is definitely a place for that, but we know that to move people emotionally and intellectually, you have to gain jurisdiction. And one way to disarm and build a friendship is to have fun together. It builds camaraderie, trust, and relationships. That’s why we always provide ideas for fun ways to begin your meeting.
Personal Stories
Revelation 12:11 NIV says, “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” Sharing our own stories gives people the freedom to confront their own places of shame, hurt, and vulnerability. It allows us to say, “You too?” and learn that we aren’t alone in our struggles. That’s why we encourage starting meetings with one mom sharing her story of struggle and how God is moving in that story.
Masterclass
Our curriculum videos and lessons are styled after masterclasses where the content moves fast, goes deep, stays relevant, and has the goal of teaching something specific, actionable, and spiritually transformational.
Check out curriculum here: https://www.themom.co/theme-reveal/
Mentoring
A unique feature of MomCo meetups is that we encourage every group to have Mentor moms who can provide perspective and wisdom to the challenges moms face. Mentors sit at tables and offer perspective when asked.
Conversation
Discussion questions are provided with the curriculum to help facilitate vulnerable conversations that move toward action, healing and spiritual growth.
How can we pray for you?
At the end of every discussion, we ask, ‘How can we pray for you?” and invite women to share out loud or fill out a card with their request. We often pray to close but also let moms know that their prayer cards and requests will be prayed over individually during the week by a MomCo leader or church staff.
Hugs before they go.
The biggest thing we get feedback on? Moms need a hug. So, we make sure that every mom who leaves a MomCo meeting receives a hug. Yes, it makes some people uncomfortable at first, and of course, we would never hug anyone without consent. But 99% of the time, it’s the thing moms come back for.
After the Meeting.
Leaders make sure to pray over every mom and every prayer request. We also encourage leaders to check in with moms throughout the week to follow up on the requests, even if it’s just an “I prayed for you today!” text.
What topics does the curriculum cover?
Every year, MomCo creates new curriculum, meeting plans, and activities that provide leaders with a full year of meeting plans and content. We tackle the real stuff moms are talking about—the things they whisper to each other on the side-lines of their kid's soccer games, text about in the middle of the night, and wonder about silently in their hearts. Our curriculum is honest, practical and faith-centered. Here's a peek at some of the topics we explore:

Every year we have a theme that guides our conversations and content. It’s a big rallying point for groups all over the world. Check out our theme this year: https://www.themom.co/theme-reveal/
A team oversees the creation of curriculum content. It includes theologians, pastors, moms, and leaders. The process starts with prayer and fasting, asking God what He wants the focus to be for the year. From there, we choose a Bible passage that serves as the foundation of the theme and content creation.
Membership gives moms access to the full curriculum, app, resources, discounts, and online community. It's their passport to belonging, growth, and purpose—all that for only $38 a year!
Yes, for ongoing participation. But moms can visit before joining—no pressure.
All moms. Married, single, working, stay-at-home, new, seasoned, foster, adoptive—you name it. If she's a mom, she belongs here.
Our groups are for moms, but many events (like family nights or service projects) are open to Dads and kids.

We believe:
The only true God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6: 4-5; Acts 17:24-28; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
The divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness and authority of the Bible in faith and practice (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:9-11, 105; 1 Thessalonians 2:13).
The full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, who lived as a perfect example, who atoned for the sins of the world at the cross, who was bodily raised from the dead and ascended as both Lord and Savior, and who will return in power and glory in the fullness of time to judge the living and the dead, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God (John 1:1, 14; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 4:15; Isaiah 53:3-6; Acts 4:10-12; Matthew 26:63-64; 2 Timothy 4:1).
The value and dignity of all humankind: originally created in God’s image to live in love and holiness, but who became alienated from God and each other because of sin and guilt, and who are justly subject to the judgment of God (Genesis 1:26-27; Colossians 1:21; John 12:47-48).
The justification, by God’s grace, of all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 3:16-17; Romans 4:4-5).
The present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling and transforming power the Christian is enabled to live out our new life and new calling to evangelism and discipleship of believers within the fellowship of the Church (John 16:7; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Galatians 5:22-23; Matthew 28:18-20).
The spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across racial, gender and class differences (John 17:20-23; Revelation 5:9).

Less than 2 hours/month. Seriously.
It's a simple commitment to acknowledge MomCo's mission, values, and safety standards. We keep it clear, supportive, and easy to follow. Check it out here: [INSERT]
Founded in 1973. This isn't theory—it's legacy.
In the early 70s, a group of 5 moms decided to start a group at their church for moms and called it MOPS, short for Mothers of Preschoolers. Since then, it has grown into a movement that reaches 3 million moms a year in 109 countries and 30 languages. God uses our small “yes”-es to expand the kingdom in profound ways.
In 2023, we rebranded from MOPS to MomCo. Here's why…
Ten years ago, we began to discover challenges with our name. The acronym MOPS immediately conjures a vision of cleaning supplies, which was increasingly derailing compelling conversations about the value of a mothering community. The context of the phrase "mothers of preschoolers" has narrowed over the past 10-15 years to mean only moms who have "3-5-year-olds who attend school", not the broader inclusion of all moms with children ages newborn to 5, which is what it previously meant in our society. As we expand globally, the name "MOPS" is not often translatable, and when it is, it has extremely negative connotations. For example, in German, MOPS at best means "mother of pugs" or, at worst, is derogatory slang for breast—not ideal for a mothering organization.
In 2017, our board commissioned our staff to begin an extensive research journey. We conducted focus groups, pastor interviews, and meetings with branding experts and other non-profits to determine if our name was becoming a barrier to our mission of engaging moms with the message of Jesus. We asked thousands of questions and spent intense hours in prayer, seeking God's direction at each decision point. As we compiled all the feedback, it became clear that as God has grown this ministry and the organization has expanded, we have outgrown the name MOPS.
And at that point, we mourned, because the thought of a name change felt sad and scary. There is so much legacy connected with the name. But we also knew that we needed to be brave if we wanted to continue to be the pioneering movement that God created us to be. So, we said “Yes.” And we also started asking God for the perfect new name that would lead us into our next 50 years.
We had 3 goals for the new name:
1. It could not be routinely misleading.
2. It must convey that all moms are welcome.
3. It would invite a future generation of moms into a community where they can meet Jesus.
Our mission remains the same as in 1973 when seven women gathered in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Our focus on Jesus is at the forefront of all we do. Our mission is not changing. The only change is a name refresh that brings more clarity about what we do.
The central focus of MOPS has always been to create a mom community that provides opportunities to encounter Jesus. We were pioneering mom community with this mission, the first of its kind.
We grew a U.S.-based mom community into a global mom community, a military mom community, a mentor mom community, a MomsNext mom community, a teen mom community, and even an online mom community. Our specialty is creating a transformational mom community. Therefore, our new name is shorthand for The Mom Community. Welcome to the MomCo!
Yes—and we have millions of success stories to prove it. Read some of them below…
